Ian Heetland graduated with honors from Central College with a Music Education degree in 2020 during the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. After returning to Knoxville High School in 2021, one of his student teaching placements, the choral program has grown in size by 50%. Students under his direction have represented KHS in statewide events, including the Iowa All State Music Festival, ICDA Best of Center Recital and Iowa State FFA Chorus. Both the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers have received Division I Ratings at both the IHSMA Solo/Small Ensemble Contest and Large Group Contest under his direction. He also serves as the Music Director for the KHS Drama Department. Outside of teaching, he sings professionally at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Des Moines, where he serves as a Howell Scholar and the Tenor Section Leader for their Cathedral Choir. He has also performed masterworks with the Des Moines Symphony and Central College Community Orchestra.
John Calahan has taught vocal music for 12 years, for children from Kindergarten all the way up to Seniors in high school. He has also worked as a Church choir director in the past as well as directed school and community theater productions, on top of conducting pit orchestras. This is his first year at Knoxville Middle School. He currently lives in Knoxville with his wife and three cats: Ted, Floyd, and Peter.
Troy Errthum is KPAC's (Knoxville Performing Arts Center) all around tech person and has worked in the space since 2017. He is currently an associate at Knoxville High School, but before that was a parent and volunteer of the district and is a former music booster president. He enjoys working in KPAC with the wide variety of acts that use the stage.
Carla Bauer currently teaches third through sixth grade general music at Knoxville. She has been teaching for 30 years, and in those 30 years she has taught music to every grade from pre-K to eighth grade. She is proud to have been in Knoxville her entire teaching career. She is married and has 3 very musically talented teenage boys. In her spare time, she loves being outdoors, and participating in community theater with her kids.
Sarah Rodilosso currently teaches K-3 General Music at Knoxville. She came into the district in 2012 as a graduate from Wartburg College. She recently completed her masters degree from Anderson University in Indiana. Outside of teaching, she enjoys playing with her pet bunny at home.
Nancy Courter has been the collaborative pianist for the Knoxville Community School District since the fall of 2008. She began taking lessons after 1st grade and continued through college. Her first accompaniment job came when she was in 7th grade. While in High School, she accompanied her High School choirs, and played organ at her church. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in Photography. Along with accompanying all musical events at Knoxville, she plays for two churches regularly. She also volunteers to accompany others and plays solos for community events and fundraisers.
